Stouffville Connects joins Workout Smart Team for the Terry Fox Run

Stouffville Connects is excited to announce that we will be participating in this year's Terry Fox run by joining up with the Workout Smart team.

Last year saw Stouffville overtake London, Ontario to rank fourth out of 220 Ontario communities for the most donations raised, with donations of $122,000 and over 1200 participants.

"It's an amazing achievement, considering the number of cities and towns across Ontario that are far larger than Stouffville," said local run co-ordinator Sandy Schell Kennedy. "People in our town care and they want to help others."

This year's Terry Fox Run in Whitchurch-Stouffville will take place on Saturday, September 16th under the new theme:  "Be a Friend, Bring a Friend".

"The idea is be a great friend or neighbor and introduce them to Stouffville's best community event," said Mrs. Schell Kennedy, "and be a friend to cancer research by bringing a friend to the Terry Fox Run."

The run will begin at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Leisure Centre, (formerly known as the Lebovic Centre.)

There are three ways you can get involved:

1. Volunteer. The run needs people to volunteer for run day or at a pre-run event during the next three months.
   
2. Participate. It's a lot of fun to take part in the run, so residents are encouraged to register your team or family for the run.
   
3. Donate. You can make a pledge online and we encourage you to support the Stouffville Connect's team!

When you participate, if you tell the organizers about a cancer survivor, that person will be given a complimentary commemorative T-shirt.
