Hugo T. KroonI have been a resident of the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville for over twenty-five years living in the Hamlet of Bethesda, with my wife Linda, where we have raised our three daughters. Our eldest, Erica-Lynn resides in Moorefield with her husband John and our only grandson, Jakob. Linda is the office administrator at Stouffville Christian School located above Springvale Church at Kennedy and Stouffville Roads. Our other daughters, Kyla and Krista, continue to live at home with us. I have worked in the Landscape maintenance industry in some capacity my entire career. From owning a successful business managing hundreds of individual private, commercial, government and institutional clients, to working for some of Ontario’s largest and most successful firms. My involvement in local politics began some years ago by helping head a concerned citizens group which, eventually helped lead to the creation of this town’s Site Alteration and Fill bylaw, which will become a model for municipalities province wide. Since then I have sat on the museum board for 8 years, the Lemonville board for 4 years, and am a livestock valuer for the town as well. I am chair of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum Antique and Classic Car Show. I am involved in the planning and execution of several additional Town community events and initiatives and do fund raising for many of them. I am a long time member of Stouffville Legion 459 to honour the sacrifice of veterans, including my father. I have had the honour and privilege of being friends of, and be mentored by, as well as providing advice to several current and former representatives in this and other jurisdictions. I manage a private land trust of thousands of acres in the near north of this province where I have had to deal with all levels of government on environmental impacts, zoning matters, and other land rights issues. I have an excellent working relationship with senior staff as well as the frontline workers. I am well versed in the intricacies of the Municipal Act, the procedural bylaw, and the myriad legislative statutes and regulations that govern the activities of the town. As well, in my career in the landscape industry by having worked for some of Ontario’s largest service providers, and having provided millions of dollars of tenders and services to all levels of government, I have had the opportunity of coming to understand the challenges of government from both sides. For the residents Ward Three, I envision an expansion of services, including improved 24/7 fire coverage similar to that enjoyed by residents of the Village. I will work to an end of the inequality experienced by residents of the North Shore of Preston Lake and other similar areas. I will continue to work with resident groups to employ Town resources and experience to develop and maintain community events. I will also continue to offer my expertise and experience to Town wide events. I will work with local landowners and investors to develop sustainable and responsible commercial ventures that will provide jobs, value and a diversified tax base for the Town. I will work with farmers to ensure that their land rights continue to be protected, while ensuring a minimum of government interference. I will ensure that you receive value for your tax dollars by following the lead of past councils to keep tax increases low and ensure that our capable staff is motivated to do the same. As well I will be a consistent at persistent voice at the regional level to ensure that the Town receives it’s fair share of resources and consideration, including extending servicing in the Gormley employment lands. Please help me to help you by voting Hugo T. Kroon for Ward 3 councillor on October 27th. Thank you. Comments, Questions, Concerns? Contact me@ Return to the Stouffville Election 2014 guide. |
