Joanne IannuzziFor over 25 years, I have been working and volunteering with people of all ages, in many organizations, that make up the fabric of our community. My public service resume comes from working alongside local and regional residents, business owners, service groups, plus local, regional, provincial and federal government contacts. Some of the organizations I am currently a member of or support as a friend are: The Stouffville Multicultural Association. I am Chairperson and Founder. We launched the SMA in April 2011 to publicly and specifically embrace Multiculturalism and Visible Diversity in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. We said we supported multiculturalism, living together equally, fairly and in harmony – and we made diversity and visible diversity a non-issue. The Stouffville Legion. Executive Team member, I am the Poppy Chairperson, past 2nd and 1st Vice President, and I also belong to the Ladies Auxiliary. I run Stouffville and Ballantrae Girl Guides with 25 years as a Leader in several branches, serving now as its Community Guider. I sit on the York Region Road Watch Committee for Stouffville Road Watch working locally to educate the public about this Online Reporting system - and its effectiveness to encourage safer driving. I have a message to drivers, from almost every neighbourhood in the Ward – SLOW DOWN. Stouffville PROBUS I am an active member in this local social network for retired or semi-retired business professionals. York Regional Police I am a Registered Volunteer, volunteering across the Region. I was Team Lead of the Stouffville Community Policing Centre for 7 years, and on the #5 District Community Liaison Committee. Through YRP, I also support Victim Services of York Region and Yellow Brick House. CrimeStoppers of York Region I am a past Board member, continuing to educate about CrimeStoppers and its tip rewards program. 707 Marion Orr Air Cadet Squadron – Stouffville’s Air Cadets. I am their Legion Liaison for Poppy Campaigns. Stouffville Terry Fox Run I do Marshall duty each year [stand and point], and provide translations for their local flyer through the Stouffville Multicultural Association. Stouffville Youth Council Originally called the Mayors Youth Council. I am a founding member and Adult Advisor. Stouffville Garden Club, Stouffville Dog Park Association / Free the Pooch, Stouffville Cricket Club, Latcham Gallery I am a friend who assists with promotion locally and across the region. This year, the Stouffville Lions Club came knocking at my door. They hope I become a member after the Election. My business is a member of Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber of Commerce. As a successful business owner for over 30 years, I am keenly aware of all matters of finance, budgeting, taxation and being fiscally responsible. I will treat taxpayer dollars with the respect it deserves and work to ensure projects are vetted properly, on time and on budget. From volunteering in our community since 1989, and PERSONALLY campaigning door to door in Ward 6 in 2010 and 2014, I have recorded a list of concerns and issues from the people. These include but not limited to: Traffic and pedestrian safety, parking and school issues, Memorial Park, the toboggan hill and the Burkholder ‘gates’, the Library Leisure Centre Expansion cost, a new outdoor pool, road resurfacing, historical preservation, public transit, late night taxi service, accessibility, affordable housing, power outages and losing that ‘small town feeling’. Many people feel that nobody cares about them or listens to them anymore. Some were surprised to hear they had a Councillor. Eastern Gate residents said they haven’t seen him in 10 years. My strong leadership skills, business and volunteer experience, with a commitment to you and our Town, make me your best choice for Councillor Ward 6. I work to the highest integrity and people trust me. I will work to restore your faith in how local government should work for you, by showing you the respect you deserve. You can count on me. On October 27, I ask for your support by voting Joanne Iannuzzi Councillor Ward 6. Return to the Stouffville Election 2014 guide. |
